St. Dominic's Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

St. Dominic Outpatient Rehabilitation Services is designed to help patients return to an optimal level of competency and meet the daily challenges of their environment. Our Outpatient Rehabilitation staff includes experienced physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists who work with the patient's physician in blending their knowledge to provide a comprehensive program of rehabilitation.  

St. Dominic's Outpatient Rehabilitation Services includes:

Foot Drop:

Foot Drop may result from an injury or illness that makes the foot and ankle muscles weak or paralyzed.  

The following diagnoses that affect the Central Nervous System may cause foot drop: Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury, and Multiple Sclerosis.

The Bioness is a Functional Electrical Stimulation system that helps to improve walking.  The benefits of using the Bioness are:

  1. More natural movement while walking
  2. Increased speed and steadiness while walking
  3. Re-education of muscles
  4. Prevention of muscle atrophy
  5. Maintain or Increased Range of Motion in the ankle or foot.
  6. Decreased risk of falls.
