Below is a listing and brief description of ongoing classes for Expecting Families; classes for adults over age 55: community classes promoting general health and wellness; plus a list of all support groups held at St. Dominic Hospital. Classes For Expecting Families
Moms N Motion - St. Dominic's HealthLine Wellness Center offers a structured water fitness class that helps maintain cardio respiratory and muscular fitness throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. Must be at least 12 weeks into pregnancy and have a signed medical release from a physician. Call (601)200-4925 for details. Cost: $50/month or free for mothers delivering at St. Dominic's.
Breastfeeding Class - This class includes the advantages of breastfeeding for mother and baby, prenatal preparation, keys to successful breastfeeding and expressing and storing breast milk.

Infant Seat Safety Check - Certified technicians from Mississippi Safe Kids will be at St. Dominic's to show parents how to properly install their child's car seat. Call (601)200-6934 for more information. Free.
Brothers and Sisters-To-Be - St. Dominic's will offer a special class for children ages 3-8 who are expecting a new baby in their family. Emphasis is given to the sibling's new role as a big brother or big sister. Call (601)200-6934 for details or to register. Free.
Fatherwise - A one-night class for expectant or new fathers which offers personal, first-hand tips from a new dad and advice on how to help mom. Call (601)200-6934 to register. Free.
Newborn Care Class - St. Dominic's teaches parents basic infant care and common parental concerns of the first few months. Call (601)200-6934. Free.
Baby & Me Singles Childbirth Class - A childbirth class for the single mom covering all aspects of labor, delivery, anesthesia and postpartum. Supper is included. Cost: $25 per person. Call (601)200-6934 to register.
Prepared Childbirth Class - St. Dominic's offers a class that covers everything you need to know before, during and after your baby's birth. Weekend and Tuesday evening classes available. Registration required. Call (601)200-6934 to register. Cost: $50 per couple.
"Grand" Parents Class - This class for expecting or new grandparents is designed as an update on childbirth and parenting practices. Call (601)200-6934 to register. Free.
Classes Just for senior adults
Ballroom Dance - Learn the Mambo, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Rhumba, Waltz, Two-Step and Swing at this class sponsored by New Directions for Over 55. Invite a partner or come alone. Prime Timers Enrichment Series - St. Catherine's Village in Madison hosts a series of lectures each month from 10:30 a.m. -11:15 a.m. at the Village. These lectures cover topics of interest to senior adults. Call (601)856-0100 for program details. Free.
Senior Adult Computer Class - St. Dominic's New Directions for Over 55 hosts a computer course for senior adults who are beginner computer users. Third Saturday of each month. Call (601)200-6698 to register. Cost: $25 per person.
AARP Mature Driving Class - Classroom refresher for motorists age 50 and older which teaches defensive driving techniques. Completing the class qualifies you for a discount on automobile insurance. $10 per person. Call New Directions for Over 55 at (601)200-6698 to register.
Community Education, Health, Wellness & Fitness
Yoga & Pilates Private Sessions - The Spa at St. Dominic's offers private one-hour sessions of Stott Pilates, White Lotus Yoga and Classic Ayurvedic Yoga. For more information on the therapeutic benefits of these services, call (601)200-5961.
Gentle Joints (Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program) - HealthLine Wellness Center offers a low-intensity walking water class that allows you to exercise at your own pace. The class is designed to help you increase strength, endurance and flexibility. Class is held Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 2 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. You do not have to be a HealthLine member to participate. Call HealthLine to register at (601)200-4925. Childcare & Babysitting Safety - Have your children take the time to learn skills needed to be responsible sitters. Basic first aid, the Heimlich Maneuver, rescue breathing, home and fire safety, infant changing and feeding tips. Held at St. Dominic's HealthLine Wellness Center. Call (601)200-4925 to register. Basic Life Support Classs - St. Dominic's HealthLine Wellness Center offers BLS Initial and Renewal Classes for medical professionals only. Registration is required. Cost: $50. Call (601)200-4925 to register.
Private and Group Swimming Lessons - St. Dominic's HealthLine Wellness Center offers group or private swimming lessons for children ages 3 - 12 in our indoor heated pool. Call HealthLine for schedule and fees at (601)200-4925.
Support Groups
Cancer Support Group - St. Dominic's Cancer Center offers a monthly support group for cancer patients and survivors. Held the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. at the Cancer Center. Call (601)200-3070. Free.
Women's Heart Support Group - St. Dominic's offers a support group meeting for women diagnosed with heart disease. Meets the second Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at St. Dominic's. Call (601)200-3110. Free.
Women's Cancer Support Group - St. Dominic's Cancer Center offers a support group for women living with cancer or women who are cancer survivors. Meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. at the Cancer Center. Call (601)200-3070. Free.
Caregivers Support Group - St. Dominic's offers a monthly support group for caregivers of St. Dominic patients and caregivers in the community. This group meets the second Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic's Conference Rooms. For more information, call Teresa Williams at (601)200-6768. Free.
Ostomy Support Group - For individuals with colostomy, ileostomy or urinary diversion. Held the third Sunday of each month at 3 p.m. in St. Dominic's Conference Rooms. For details, call (601)956-8521. Free.
Diabetic Support Group - for diabetics and their family members offering speakers on various topics. Held the third Thursday of every other month at 10:30 a.m. in St. Dominic's Wound Center conference room. Call (601)200-6718 for details.
Brain Injury Support Group - The Mississippi Brain Injury Association hosts a monthly support group for patients and families dealing with brain injuries. Meets the fourth Monday of each month (July 23) at 7 p.m. at St. Dominic's. For more information, call (601)981-1021. Free.
West Nile Virus Support Group - St. Dominic's hosts a support group with the Mississippi State Department of Health for patients and family members dealing with the complications from West Nile Virus.
