Our cardiac specialists are regionally recognized for providing a full range of high-quality cardiovascular services, from prevention, intervention and surgery to wellness programs and patient education. Our goal is to prevent disease, diagnose it, manage the condition and prevent the recurrence of cardiac conditions.

Our Heart Care Services Include:

Level One Program: Heart Attack Protocol

The Mississippi Heart Institute initiated a Level I Heart Attack Protocol to decrease "door to balloon" (D2B) time for acute myocardial infarction (MI) patients. Our streamlined process begins even before your patient arrives in our Emergency Department.

  • Men's Health

Many men may have a few mild warning signs that come and go - or signs that only occur during certain physical activities like playing sports or mowing the lawn. This is the best time to take action and make an appointment with one of our Family Medicine Physicians for a physical. With a series of simple tests and some background information, your physician can determine the best course of treatment. He/she will be able assess your condition and complaints that are causing your symptoms.

  • Women's Health

Heart disease kills nearly 500,000 women each year and is the leading cause of death in women over the age of 25.  In Mississippi, women are at even greater risk.   In fact, in the Hinds-Madison-Rankin County area, 86% of women between the ages of 40 and 70 are at risk for a first heart attack.  Of that group, 54% are not even aware that they are at risk.  However, chest pain can be associated with conditions other than a heart attack.

  • Chest Pain Emergency Center

Because chest pain may be associated with conditions other than a heart attack, St. Dominic's offers chest pain patients an option other than the traditional emergency room evaluation.  Individuals experiencing chest pain access the Chest Pain Center through self-referral.  Upon arrival at the Emergency Department, the patient is monitored and evaluated by specially trained staff of cardiac specialists.  The emphasis is on rapid treatment, and providing a quiet, comforting environment for the patient and family.
