Chest Pain and Heart Attack Treatment Center
Anyone experiencing the warning signs of a heart attack should call 911 immediately.
Accessed through the Emergency Department, the Chest Pain Center offers a valued option to individuals in our community who experience chest pain.
Because chest pain may be associated with conditions other than a heart attack, St. Dominic's offers chest pain patients an option other than the traditional emergency room evaluation. Individuals experiencing chest pain access the Chest Pain Center through self-referral. Upon arrival at the Emergency Department, the patient is monitored and evaluated by specially trained staff of cardiac specialists. The emphasis is on rapid treatment, and providing a quiet, comforting environment for the patient and family.
If a physician determines that the chest pain is associated with a myocardial infarction or other cardiac condition, the patient is admitted to the coronary unit or may be taken to the Cath Lab. If an acute condition is ruled out, the patient will be treated and referred accordingly.
In keeping with our mission of meeting the total needs of the community, St. Dominic's provides education on cardiac-related emergencies and preventative measures.
