Aquatic Rehabilitation

Aquatic Rehabilitation at St. Dominic’s Outpatient Rehab provides effective treatment of movement related dysfunction by experienced physical therapists and occupational therapists on an individualized one-on-one basis.

Aquatic rehabilitation is beneficial for many of our patients with a variety of therapy related diagnoses that we treat at St. Dominic Outpatient Rehab. Our aquatics facility can be utilized as part of your individualized treatment plan when experiencing a movement or wellness dysfunction that is being evaluated and treated by one of the members of our orthopedic, neurologic, hand management, or oncology teams.

Aquatic therapy is an ideal form of treatment for many individuals due to the reduced weight environment that it provides. It is beneficial for individuals with:

  • decreased strength
  • decreased range of motion
  • functional movement impairments
  • balance impairments
  • joint pain
  • chronic pain and fatigue
  • variety of orthopedic dysfunctions that can all be treated in the water.

An aquatic environment is unique in that it allows your therapist full 360 degree access to you during the performance of many different manual therapy techniques or exercise performance to ensure the best possible functional outcomes. We offer both shallow and deep water environments for a variety of patient comfort levels and needs. We will assist you in returning to a sport, to work, to everyday life, or participation within your community along with friends and family.
