Cardiac Cath Lab Observation by EMS
St. Dominic Hospital recognizes that Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responders play a critical role in providing efficient and life-saving care for patients suffering from an acute myocardial infarction. Studies have shown that quick response times to heart attack symptoms lead to better patient outcomes. These outcomes are achieved by efficient EMS care, transporting patients to PCI hospitals and thus significantly reducing door-to-balloon times.
The Mississippi Heart and Vascular Institute (MHVI) and the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at St. Dominic Hospital offer the opportunity for EMS providers to come and observe catheterization procedures for educational purposes. This is a valuable learning experience, and our hope is that EMS providers will take advantage of this opportunity. Partnering with EMS has always been a priority at St. Dominic Hospital, and our staff is eager to help facilitate this learning opportunity.
